Real American Food
Everyone thinks American Food is just burgers and fries, but neither one of those things actually originated in America. I was raised on real American food: dishes that developed from the meshing of cultures, the cooking techniques of people from all over the world combined with the ingredients that were available (or could grow) locally. I'm talking gumbo, jambalaya, ettoufee. And those are just the South Louisiana dishes. Our country is filled with these little pockets of culture and incredible food. American food is also buffalo wings. It's also the lobster roll and clam chowder. It's also the poke bowl! The list goes on and on. And along with my good friend Dan Paustian of MasterChef, I decided to put a spotlight on what American food really is, and you can't get it at a drive-thru.
